The San Antonio & Northern Railroad, the HO layout of SAMRA. This is a flowing layout designed for running trains, both fun runs with long trains and long runs, and operating sessions with plenty of switching options. The layout occupies about 3000 sq ft of the museum. It may seem mostly completed, though visitors will find various projects with work continuing. A new port scene is being added to one end of the layout and progress is well underway. A visit to the museum is the best way to see this railroad.

The SA&N railroad hosts both casual running and formal operating of trains. Most Sundays are ‘Fun Run’ days, a great time to visit and see various trains traveling the lengthy mainline tracks of this large HO model railroad. Select Saturdays are ‘Operating Sessions’, where crews run trains more realistically, switching cars at designated locations, using Manifest and under dispatcher authority. Check the ‘Visiting’ page for days and hours.
