The Bob Clarke Rail Heritage Museum, home of SAMRA, is open to the public at no cost. The
museum is open on various days and times. The normal days and hours are in the yellow box.
Most Sundays, from 1pm to 4pm, the museum has “Fun Runs” where members are running trains,
some days lots of trains. This is a great (best) time to visit and see the railroad and enjoy watching
various trains running over the entire railroad.
1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month, are “Operating Sessions”. Members operate the railroad like
the prototype railroads, using a Train Manifest and following Dispatcher Authority of running.
Follow trains as they switch cars at designated locations as they travel the railroad.
Wednesdays and Saturdays are “Work Days”, where visitors will find members working on the
layout. From adding scenery to track work, building a scene to wiring circuits, various work projects
on the railroad. On these days, trains normally are not run while members are working.
The SAMRA General Membership Meetings are on the 2nd Friday evening of the month. These are
like most club meetings. Visitors are welcome to attend.
The Museum is located at
702 Narrow Pass,
Live Oak, Texas 78233.
